PROCESSES: Planning for client directional projects includes offset well review, BHA tendency analysis and recommendation, torque and drag modeling, and collision analysis as required to develop a cost-effective well plan. This well plan is executed by skilled, experienced directional drillers and MWD engineers who are in constant communication with operations coordinators, monitoring progress on a daily or real-time basis as appropriate. Ryan software programs such as DDTracker and SQI ensure reliable execution of the well plan.

PROPRIETARY APPLICATIONS: Ryan executes client well plans using a broad range of sophisticated equipment. Downhole motors are chosen to match the drilling application from a full range of mud-lubricated and oil-lubricated bearing sections and power sections selected to meet bit, BHA and directional objectives. MWD Systems from Ryan are based on retrievable, reseatable, modular probe technology. Options include gamma, internal/annular pressure, mud pulse or electromagnetic (EM) transmission format. Several patented design improvements in the last year have resulted in a doubling of tool reliability. In addition, Ryan is field testing resistivity devices to provide further client formation evaluation options.

TRAINING: Technical training is provided using Ryan’s Learning Management System in conjunction with testing certification by PETEX/UT.
